History of the Cessna Citation XLS / XLS+
The Citation XLS is the second of Cessna’s Excel medium-sized jet series, coming after the Citation Excel. The first Citation XLS was delivered in 2003 and it continued to be produced until 2008. This was then followed by the XLS+, which featured improvements mainly aimed at the pilot’s experience: improved engines and avionics.

Both the XLS and the XLS+ is 52.6ft in length, 17.2ft in height and has a wingspan of 56.4ft. The cabin dimensions for both jets are 5.7ft high, 18.6ft long and 5.5ft wide and both can seat eight passengers and two crew as standard.
The cockpit of the XLS features an upgraded glass Honeywell Primus 1000 EFIS avionics suite. The XLS+ has the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 system, with four brighter screens.
The XLS is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW545B engines, which each offer 3,991lbs of thrust and allows a normal cruise speed of 422kts and a maximum range of 1,841nm. The XLS+ features PW545C engines that improve its normal cruise speed to 429kts and its maximum range to 1,979 nm.
Both jets have a maximum operating ceiling of 45,000ft.
